Recently in primary 5 we have been studying STEM .We have had engineers in to visit we have been working particularly on engineering and inventors .STEM stands for SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING and MATHS Another thing is fitnut which means fitness and nutrition.This week we have did fitnut 3 times .There is weights ,a push up station, and a punching bag and more stuff etc. This is some photos of what we have been doing in class

STEM As i have said stem stands for SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING and MATHS.We have had Mr Cameron who was recently at a meeting in NYC who was the inventor of a patent .A patent is something you get awarded when you invent something that has never been thought of before.I am trying to invent a portable / fold up projector. SCIENCE We have been experimenting alot of things recently .We mixed water with various powders including the following: Flour Bicarbonate of soda Sugar Salt Baking Powder There were different shapes of crystals on each petri-dish. Mr Cameron Mr Cameron was the inventor of a patent .A patent is something that you are awarded when you invent something that has never been thought of before .If you ``INVENT``something that has been thought of you are fined £3,000 !!!!!!!!! Mr Ritchie Mr Ritchie is HEAVILY involved in the Queens Quay Bridge which is almost finished. Thank you for listening to my blog Euan Francis

In p5 we have been learning about stem which stands for science technology engineering maths My favorite engineering person that came into my class was Mr Cameron.

Recently in Primary 5 we have been studying about STEM. Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. We have had Mr Cameron and Mr Ritchie talking about their jobs. Mr Ritchie told us about a time when a bus scraped a bridge on the Boulevard and they had to go look at the bridge. It was so badly damaged the solution was to demolish the bridge over night because it could not be saved. Mr Cameron told us he travels all around the world with his job and he has been on the STV news. He has been to Tokyo to draw up blue prints for an important project. He went to meetings in Tokyo to talk to other engineers about the job. He recently came back from New York.

Chinese New Year by EIlidh

In China they make a lot of noise to chase away the old year . In china there are animais of the calendar it is called the Chinese zodiac I am a pig because I was born in 2007 are you. The lucky colors are red and gold. It all started with whoever came in 1st to 12th in a swimming race would get a place in the chinese zodiac the lion dance is also good it is about some acrobats [the one at the back has to be the strongest] this is the Chinese ABC

Chinese New Year by Ellie

Chinese new year is a celebration celebrated by the chinese .They light lanterns every chinese new year and put them high in the sky.Chinese new year does not start at the start of the year because they have a different calendar than us and it is called the zodiac.The zodiac started when one day down at the riverbank the king decided to have a race to decide which of the animals would get to be to be named after a year in the zodiac.Competing in the race was a snake,,horse,goat,monkey,rooster,dog,rat,pig,ox,tiger,rabbit,dragon.At the celebration a group of people get drums and make alot of noise to scare the last year away.Their lucky coulors are red and gold.They have there own dance called the lion dance .2 people dress up in the one very long suit and they work together to do the lion dance.

Chinese New Year by Mhirren

In China they celebrate Chinese new year by making a lot of noise to chase away the old year. Sometimes they watch a special dance called the lion dance. The lion dance is a performance performed by two of the best acrobats,the acrobat at the back has to be the strongest one. In the lion dance they jump from pole to pole instead of walking on a straight path. The lucky colours in China are red and gold. In China are some very important animals, these animals are the animals of the Chinese zodiac. It all started with a race by the lake and whoever came in 1st-12th place in the race would get a place on the zodiac. There was a pig, a rat, an ox, a cat, a dog, a horse, a rabbit, a monkey, a tiger, a rooster, a snake and a dragon. This year Chinese new year will take place on January 28 2017. They give each other a special red envelope with a gold coin inside it the envelope is very nicely decorated with the good luck symbol it looks like a person standing beside a house. Chinese new year is also called Spring festival. Chinese new year is one of the biggest celebration in the world.

Animals

In P5 we are learning about animals.We have learned about silkworms and we made silkworms out of a sock it was very fun.we also watched silkworm videos and made the silkworm life cycle out of clay. Then a few weeks ago we were learning about emperor penguins and we learned really cool facts like an emperor penguin is the biggest penguin and i already know that fairy penguins are the smallest.We also made penguin bookmarks and watched penguin videos. They are very cute. Next we learned about jellyfish.I know that the most dangerous jellyfish is the box jellyfish and some are bigger than humans and some are as small as mice we made paper plate jellyfish and it was so fun! Then last we learned about turtles. We learned the turtle life cycle and we coloured in very fancy turtles with beautiful patterns in them obviously i made mine rainbow. Animals are amazing I love learning about animals.
